We're going on a grandma hunt

We're going on a grandma hunt. 23/04/20

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Uh oh, cars.
Big, metal cars.
We can't go in front of them, we can't go through them, we'll have to wait for them.
Vroom vroom vroom vroom.

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Uh oh, dogs.
Licky, fluffy dogs.
We can't go close to them, we can't go near them, we'll have to be two meters away.
Slurp, slobber, slurp, slobber.

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Uh oh, seagulls.
Squawking, flapping seagulls.
We can't go over them, we can't go around them, we'll have to go under them.
Squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk.

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Uh oh, sand dunes.
Sandy, grassy sand dunes.
We can't go under them, we can't go through them, we'll have to go over them.
Squish, squash, squish, squash.

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Uh oh, people.
Huge, noisy people.
We can't go over them, we can't go through them, we'll have to go past them.
Trip, trop, trip, trop.

We're going on a grandma hunt.
We're gonna catch grandma.
She lives at the beach.
She's not scary.

Oh no, grandma.
Baggy, silky dress wearing grandma.
"what are you doing in the water!"
We need to bring you home!

Back past the people.
Trip, trop, trip, trop.
Back over the sand dunes.
Squish, squash, squish, squash.
Back under the seagulls.
Squawk, squawk, squawk, squawk.
Back past the dogs.
Slurp, slobber, slurp, slobber.
Back past the cars.
Vroom, vroom, vroom, vroom.

We get inside the house and shut the door behind and eat lunch with grandma.
Munch, munch, munch, munch.

Hope you liked my bear hunt remake.  If you want to see the slideshow I made click here.

  2. Morning Maia, your bear hunt remake is amazing!!!! You have truly captured the rhythm and feeling of Michael Rosen's bear hunt. When I read it I can just imagine the big metal cars and the squawking, flapping seagulls. It totally feels like a Grandma Hunt in New Brighton. I hope your next step is to turn this into a book with illustrations-I am looking forward to seeing the Grandma you found in her baggy, silky dress. Well done Maia, I am going to nominate you for Blogger of the Day!!!

  3. Fabulous work, Maia! I like the way you have structured the text in the same style as the original book.
Your descriptive writing brings the story to life! I hope you are going to make it into a Google Slideshow of pages with some illustrations!

  4. That is awesome Maia. I like how you gave this version a local flavour. I wonder if you or someone else could do illustrations? It would make a funny book for the younger students.
